Jeep tour – the northern Judean Desert
A magical jeep tour into the heart of the Judean Desert, combining a challenging drive through deeply cut wadis, spectacular lookouts and a dip in an amazing spring.
We start at our compound (Kfar Adumim junction), where cold drinks, coffee and tea are waiting for you.
Then we board the jeep with the driver and set off along the foothills of the Good Samaritan ridge,
turning sharply east toward Ogg River and its mighty canyon.
We continue with a challenging drive through a beautiful streambed to “the Cave” (an ancient cave dwelling).
We enter the gorge’s bed, passing challenging sections, climbing slopes and descending along the gorge.
On the way we pass fortifications from the Crusader period up to the Six-Day War.
Leaving the gorge, we begin climbing to Jebel Umm Katef – one of the most beautiful, breathtaking lookouts of the northern Judean Desert, with views of the northern Dead Sea, Jericho, Mount Azazel and the Hyrcania Valley.
We hear an explanation from the guide and continue toward a Bedouin encampment of the Jahalin tribe.
From there we descend to the amazing Prat River, passing a Hasmonean-period aqueduct on the way,
until we reach the spring, from where we walk to a magical pool called “Ein Afhad”.
There the whole family can swim, and the guide prepares a special herbal tea.
From there we return to the starting point, where you can order a lavish meal at our restaurant, HaCnaanit.
