Rappelling in Rahaf River:
An amazing rappelling stream in the southern Judean Desert, near the Dead Sea hotels.
With 9 waterfalls, this route is pure fun – it combines swimming in the stream’s water pools and offers a special, adventurous rappelling experience.
Lower Rahaf River –
We start by walking up the green-marked Rahaf trail to the entrance of the canyon.
We continue along the streambed to the first waterfall, 12 meters high, and walk on past small pools and little cascades.
We reach the second waterfall, 16 meters high, with a pool at its top.
A very short walk brings us to the third waterfall: we swim across a large pool to the top of the 30-meter fall, followed right away by a fourth waterfall of 6 meters. After a short walk comes a fifth waterfall of 5 meters and right after it a sixth of 7 meters. We keep walking past small cascades to the seventh waterfall, 15 meters high, immediately followed by an eighth of 15 meters. We descend into a large pool, swim along it, and then comes the last waterfall.
At the end we walk back to the parking lot.
Difficulty – medium to hard; requires swimming in the pools.
Notes – a full-day route for experienced hikers.
**Until May the pools are full, and all participants must know how to swim.
