A stream in the north of the Judean Desert fault cliff.
It is associated with the antiquities site of Khirbet Qumran, an ancient settlement from the Second Temple period whose inhabitants became known as the Judean Desert sect.
Khirbet Qumran became world-famous after 7 scrolls were discovered in 1947 in a cave above the streambed.
The scrolls were found by a Bedouin of the Ta’amra tribe.
The stream has six waterfalls, from 8 to 50 meters high.
Three routes are possible in the stream – Upper Qumran, Lower Qumran and the full Qumran route.
Difficulty – medium to easy
The activity takes 4–6 hours (depending on the number of participants and the rappelling pace).
*Please note: on this route, anyone who starts must finish it – you cannot turn back or exit via a bypass, only by rappelling.
